Youth CITIES is starting again!

For those of you who don’t know, Youth CITIES is the program that I attended that initiated What’s Good in the Hood. It’s a social venture program where students identify problems in their communities and learn business strategies to try and solve those problems. They get into teams, come up with a plan, pitch it to business experts, and at the end of the program, one group will get a grant from TUGG to start their venture.  During the 8 weeks I spent in Youth CITIES, I didn’t understand the value off the things I was being taught. We had CEOs and successful entrepreneurs speak to us about mission statements, double bottom lines, and networking; all skills that are coming in very useful with the Express Yourself Fashion Show  I’m working with now. I highly recommend it for any creative minds out there who are looking for not only an outlet, but a way to make a difference as well. I will be there at the kick off as a successful product of the program, and I hope to see kids who are just as excited about creating change as I am.
